I had a discussion recently with a moderate golf player about whether or not the legs had a lot to say about your golf swing characteristics (club head speed, driving distance). I was curious so I went looking for answers. I found an article describing exactly what I was looking for.
Lower Extremity Work Is Associated with Club Head Velocity during the Golf Swing in Experienced Golfers.
The article concludes that about 63% of club head speed is dependent on total lower body kinematics and thus can influence your driving distance. So be sure to activate your glutes, dissociate between global stabilizers of the trunk and hip and train your lower body to hit further!
What do you think?? Leave your comments below.
